I’m a sucker for sites that make it easier to find good deals on drinks and possibly discover a new watering hole. Well, add another one to the list. This is a Google maps mashup called unthirsty that has created a really nice looking site. Since unthirsty is pretty new, they don’t have a lot of listings just yet. So, if you know of happy hours in your town go to Unthirsty.com and contribute.

Share a Drink Recipe or find a drink Recipe with Extratasty

From the people who brought us Threadless (skinnycorp); now brings us Extratasty.com. This is a pretty new site, so it’s doesn’t have every drink recipe yet; but it will soon. If you have a great drink and don’t mind sharing the recipe or if you’re looking for something new to mix with that bottle of Grey Goose laying around the house. Then head on over to Extratasty.com. I have always liked the web design that comes out of SkinnyCorp, and Extratasy is no exception.

Find the best Drink specials in NYC

Lately Iâ€™ve been kind of having fun with Google Map mashups, and am always on the look out for cool ones. Drinkdeal.com is a drink and happy hour search site for New York City. You can search by all sorts of different variables including neighborhood, drink type, day and food type. Itâ€™s pretty fun just to search around to see whatâ€™s going on in NYC; a lot! Maybe they can expand this to other cities in the future. In the meantime, if youâ€™re in NYC or going to be visiting sometime soon then check out Drinkdeal.com.

Google map mash-up for Toronto Beer Hunters

For those of you who have been to Canada or live there. Then you know that the one screwed up thing about Canada is buying beer. There are lots of places to buy beer and great beer being made in Canada. But, the government has some screwed beer laws. First of all you can only buy beer, to take home at state liquor stores or a chain owned by a consortium of beer companies called The Beer Store. Itâ€™s hard to buy beer in Canada past 9:00. The laws may have changed since I was there several times back in the early 90â€™s, but I remember spending a significant amount time rushing over to the Beer Store to buy a half rack of Kokanee. Never-the-less, now you can go online to the beerhunter to see a map with all of the stores selling beer and if theyâ€™re open or not. Itâ€™s something that most people in the states donâ€™t need, because of the convenience of the local 7-Eleven. Anyway check out beerhunter.ca for a cool Google Map mash-up.

Miller Beer Run Game

Miller has a fun little Shockwave game that you can play online or download. The premise of the game is to run to the store during half time to pick-up more Miller Lite, while dogging obstacles all the way. I played Miller Run a couple of times already, and had fun. I would guess that I’ll be bored with it in about 20 min though.

Droogle not Google for drink recipes

Droogle is a “search engine” for drink recipes. They also received a cease and desist from Google that states the Droogle name is too similar to Google. I doubt anyone would confuse the two. Anyway, Droogle is a fun site to find drink recipes.

Beer snobs can now get their Social Networking on.

After checking out Coastr.com this weekend. I discovered a lot of beers I would like to try. Coastr.com is a place for Beer people to meet other beer people based on their likes. You can set-up your home page and then add your favorite beers and favorite places to drink them. Itâ€™s kinda fun to look around the site at all the different beers and see what other users like.

This is how Coastr.com explains their site:

“Coastr is an experiment in social networking for beer snobs (meant as a compliment, of course!). The basic idea is for you to create a list of your favorite beers, and to connect you with other people with similar tastes. And those connections will help you discover interesting new brews that you might have not known about before. “Social beermarking”, if you will.”

Take drink list with you on your iPod with iPod Bartender

If you have a 3rd or 4th generation iPod then you can take a list of drinks with you, wherever you go. “The iPod bartender contains all the drink recipes available.” I don’t really see much of a use for this if you’re a bar person. But, if you’re a house party person then this could be kinda fun. Either way it would be cool to have all of the “drink recipes available” at your disposable. Just think of all the trouble you could get into. You can download either the iPod bartender or the iPod bartender shuffle. I can see some fun games coming out of the Bartender shuffle (if you have a stocked bar).

For “Techie” Alcoholics out there. The KegBot.

Ever wanted to know all of the details of how much you drank last night? Well…me neither. However this guy has come up with a ingenious party device called the KegBot. Basically the KegBot is a software program that hooks up to a customized Kegerator that will track how much you drink over the life of a keg. In the words of the KegBot inventor;

The kegbot is a kegerator that has been equipped with special tracking hardware and software; it runs linux. by limiting and tracking access to the product, you can find out how much people drink, how much is left in the keg, and other fun stuff.

Whenever they have a new keg they post the results live on the site. I would love to have one for my next party.
