New site launch- Bonza.com

Bonza.com Logo Ok, this is a shameless plug but it’s a pretty big deal around here. We launched Bonza.com tonight. It’s a blog that will be featuring news and info on skateboard products, street wear, sneakers, tattoos, art and music. I know it’s a lot of stuff to cover but it’s stuff that we’re interested in. Also, Bonza.com is kinda special becasue it was the first e-commerce site that we launched in 1998. You can read the story here. So, go on over to Bonza.com and check it out. By the way, we’re looking for people who would be interested in writing up some content for either this site or Bonza. Contact me if your interested.

Skatespotter.com – Google mashup for skate spots

I assumed someone would do this sooner or later. It’s such a natural fit: Google Maps + community powered skate spot identification = Skatespotter.com. Currently the site doesn’t have very many spots for the west coast but as soon as others discover the site, I’m sure that’ll change. Check it out for yourself at Skatespotter.com.

Video content for your iPhone

With all the iPhone hype ( i don’t have one) of late, lots of companies are optimizing their content so that it works with the iPhone. Applications such as Digg, Meebo and many other are rushing to get their content and services in front of iPhone users. The other big thing for the iPhone is video content. Apple started out by showing commercials with Youtube content optimized for the iPhone. I suspect that short format video content will be a huge winner for iPhone users, assuming the AT&T’s EDGE network performs. One of my favorite originally produced video networks, On Networks, has high-def on demand content. They have shows that range from Cooking and Health to Comedy. Now you can can check their shows out on your iPhone. Video content optimized for the iPhone is going to explode.

Gigaom Launches Earth2tech.com

Earth2tech.com logo

With all the hype on being “green” these days, it’s no surprise that someone has stepped up and started blogging about the Tech companies that are in that space. Gigaom launched Earth2tech.com this morning

“a site devoted to the business of clean technologies, its innovations and everything else. While there are many sites that help consumers live “greener,” we are focusing our energies on the business of clean and green.”

I’m looking forward to adding Earth2tech to my daily reading.

Remembering Broadcast.com- 8 years old

Ok, I was never a big fan of Braodcast.com but they were unique at the time. On Mark Cuban’s blog yesterday he had a post on Broadcast.com and that it was now 8 years old. He had a video promo form Broadcast.com that was pretty funny to watch. I just thought I would share it with you here.

Community Next broadcasting Live "Zero to Ten Million Users “

If you weren’t able to make out to the Bay Area for todays Communty Next conference. No worries as they’re streaming everything live. I went to the Community Next conference earlier in the year and was throughly impressed with Noah and his team. I had my tickets for todays event also but something else came up that prevented me from taking the trip. I don’t feel so bad now since I can watch everything via the Community Next website.

With a low moment of inertia and agressive rake angle, this motorcycle handles like a dream and has an affinity for changing direction. Couple that with the smooth, efficient power delivery from the electric drivetrain, and you’ve got a recipe for excitement. With 100% of it’s torque available from 0 rpm, the Enertia is certainly no slouch off the line. At it’s quickest setting, the Enertia will sprint from 0 to 30 mph in 3.8 seconds!

Roll your own skateboard company

Boardpusher Skateboard Decks

I think it’s pretty cool when you take a concept from the “main stream” and apply it to a niche market such as skateboarding. However, not as niche as it once was, with XGames and the like putting skateboarding in front of people that normally wouldn’t be exposed to it. Skateboarding is a billion dollar industry just on the hard goods side of the business, so there certainly is room for a company like Boardpusher.com. Boardpusher is company that enables you to add your own design to your skate deck. Additionally, in the spirit of Cafepress, Boardpusher gives you the tools to roll your own company. You can upload all of your company designs and make your own skate shop. The only downside to this is that boardpusher charges you a monthly maintenance fee ($5/month or $50/year), which in the grand scheme of things is not bad considering that it would cost a lot more to do a run of decks and then wait for them to sell. Boardpusher.com gives you a good way to get a one off deck or start your own company. Great idea.

Example shops hosted by Boardpusher:

  1. Elife
  2. Gallery Skateboards
  3. Impossible Skateboards
  4. Eninj

Note: I haven’t tried their wood so I’m not sure the quality of the product, but they state that their decks are 100% Canadian Maple. If you’ve tried one, let us know what you think.
