Techcrunch takes a big lead in voting

Over at Businessweek.com, they have opened up voting for their Best of the Web. Under the best Blog category, Techcrunch has a early dominating lead. Very fitting since Mike Arrington was just reported as making $60k per month.

Make telemarketers cry and wish they had never called you

telescript.jpg

Did you ever see that episode of Seinfeld when Jerry got the telemarketing call? Well, when he answered the phone and realized what was going on, he let the person on the phone know that he was busy and would need to call him back. Jerry asked for the persons home phone number so that he could call him back and the telemarketer responded by saying that he didn’t give out that number and Jerry pushed even harder. I guess it’s a lot funnier when you watch it. Anyway, some genius made the “counter-script”. The counter-script is a script for you to use on anyone calling you that shouldn’t be. I can’t wait to get a telemarketing phone call now.

IRS to put the smack down on big dollar blogs

Business 2.0 did an article about some high profile bloggers and blog networks making some serious cash. Apparently Techrunch’s Michael Arrington is making $60k a month, and the Fark dude is making 2-3 times more than Arrington. Wow, not a bad chunk of change. Whoever thought you could make that kind of money working from home “blogging”. I sure hope these guys are keeping good books because I guarantee the IRS reads Business 2.0.

Kiko calendar on ebay for $50k

kikologo.pngIf you have an extra $50k and want to get a cool Web 2.0 product. You can, Kiko calendar is on Ebay for a starting bid of $49,999.99. So, if you got the dough, then buy it and then bid on the Techcrunch party tickets. You can get a cool product and promote it all at the same time.

Sure sign of a bubble

Techcrunch is having another party. I guess it’s gotten so popular that they have to limit the amount of attendees. They have at least 700 people attending. Guess what, you can still attend if you’re the winning bidder on ebay. I think it’s pretty sad that it’s come to this. I like the Techcrunch blog and I know that they can bring a lot of traffic to your new web venture, but are they so important that you need to bid on tickets to attend their party? I hope not. Make something good and people will find you.

Free business ideas from billionaire Mark Cuban

He got lucky once. I guess though, that if you have that much cash you can be as dumb as a rock and still make money. He’s successful with the Dallas Mavericks and other ventures, now he’s giving away his ideas. However, none of these struck me as great ideas but coming from a billionaire they might be worth looking into.

Working full time gets in the way of blogging

I apologize for the lack of posts lately. I started a new position a few weeks ago and have been trying to get up to speed. Additionally, I’ve had house guests for the last two weeks. I’m slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things. So, keep a look out for posts to come. I have lots of stuff to talk write about.

Fake pot plants for your living room

This post proves that allthascool.com has no focus, at all. But, I couldn’t pass this up. Some smart person makes and sells fake pot plants. Awesome! I’m getting one for my office. Find a need and fill it, basic business principal.

TechCrunch adds a job listing service

The latest web property from Techcrunch, is called CrunchBoard. It’s a new job listing site that charges employers a flat $200 fee for a 30 day listing. Looks like a pretty useful service but is very similar to the 37signals offering.

What ever happen with Edgeio? Does anyone ever find anything there?
