Get your Valley Schwag every month

valleyschwag.jpg

Awesome! Someone has created a business of selling promotional crap from web companies. Count me in. Who knows, some of that crap might be worth something one day. I sold a few of my Kozmo.com promo items on ebay for a profit, which is more than I can say for Kozmo. Just for the record; I wish Kozmo.com was still around.

Goowy launches Chat and Storage

goowy_im.jpg

I got the scoop from Techcrunch this morning that Goowy was launching IM Chat and storage. I guess, If I logged into Goowy more than once a month I would have noticed the new additions. Goowy has also made some change to their email UI. Overall, they have a cool product. I keep threatening to use it every day but with my dependence on Gmail, 30boxes and Bloglines, I don’t see the point. Oh yeah, I tried to use the new storage product, which, by the way, is via a partnership with Box.net, but could not get it to work. I’m sure that was because they have had more traffic than normal today, with the announcement. If you’re interested…give Goowy a try.

Social Search Getting Hot at Yahoo

There’s a good interview at Marketwatch, with Bradley Horowitz, Yahoo’s Product Strategy VP. He talks with Bambi Francisco about Yahoo’s social search products and how the company is well-positioned to get into the video-uploading service game. Click Here to check out the interview.

Build your next house with some help from Google

Google just recently (I think) released Google SketchUp, the free version of SketchUp pro. I downloaded it today and played with it for a hour or so. It’s pretty fun. Instead of me writing a bunch of stuff about the features and cool integration with Google Earth. Just watch this video, then download Google SketchUp.

Get a UC Berkeley education for free

berlkey_logo.gif
The title is a little bit misleading. However, you can go to UC Berkeley (online) and download MP3’s of courses, events and happening around campus. This adds a key piece to what I’ve been saying all along; you can get everything for FREE over the internet that will assist you in personal and business success. All of the tools are out there; all you have to do is be confident in your vision and take one step at a time.

Yahoo Mail Beta hack

yahoo_mail_beta.gif

If you haven’t been on the “cool list” of people to try out the Beta version of Yahoo mail but would like to. Well, Lifehacker has a simple little hack that will put you into the Beta version in less than a minute. I did it last night and so far have been impressed with the new Yahoo mail. The only problem I see so far is that they go a little overboard on the advertising. I guess that’s the price you pay for a quality free application.

30boxes adds email integration

I just did a product spotlight webcast on 30boxes last week. Now it looks like they’ve added another feature to an already great product. You can now, email your calender events directly to your 30boxes calender. For example:

Just booked a flight and now have all the details in your inbox. No problem, forward that email to add at 30boxes.com with a subject like “trip to ny april2″ and presto, you have an event on your calendar and all the details at your fingertips.

I’ve tested it and it works great. Now, all they need to do is add a to-do list and they’ll have a product that I’d be willing to pay for.

More money from less page views at Myspace.com

I haven’t had a chance to read it yet but apparently The NY Times has written a big article about Myspace in yesterdays edition. They claim that Myspace is averaging about $.10 CPM. Yeah, I know, that’s really low. Anyway, Mike Davidson (Newsvine) has a very good post on his blog about how Myspace could actually make more money if they lowered their page views. His point is that they currently have a lot of inventory because, basically, they have a poorly designed site. If they were to “modernize” their site, which in turn would decrease the current page views and create more demand, they could in theory raise their CPM, have a stickier site and happier users. It’s a very well written post. Go to mikeindustries.com and check it out for yourself.

Online calendaring at it’s best with 30Boxes

30box_screen.jpg

Back on the 24th of last month I did a product spotlight webcast featuring Veoh.com. I have to admit, I did a pretty crappy job of editing that video, but it seemed like it was received pretty well from my readers. So, I decided to do another, this time featuring my favorite online calendering application called 30boxes. Hopefully, this time I did a little better job on the editing. Eiether way, I hope you enjoy.
