Trade up for the newest ipod

main_ipod_image.jpg

Here’s a great idea. Nextworth has launched a new service that will allow you to trade your old Ipod up for a new version. With Apple releasing new versions all the time, this is a could way to keep current.

Why wait until your iPod has problems or it becomes out-dated before you upgrade. There is still a demand for previously owned iPods and we have the processes that allow us to offer you the highest purchase price along with hassle-free shipping. Simply select your iPod model, its condition and accessories and you can see exactly how much money you could have towards that new iPod.

Songbird Music player 0.1 Preview Now Available For Download

Songbird

Yesterday Songbird released their Preview version to the public. Songbird is a pretty damn cool music player that is built on top of the Mozilla Framework. So, it not only is a music player, like Itunes, but it also has a cool discovery tool. You can use it to browse to a website and it will display any available music files (formats including MPEG Audio (mpga), MPEG Layer 3 (mp3), MP4 Audio (mp4a), Ogg Vorbis, Speex, AAC, WMA, FLAC, and less important: LPCM, ADPCM, AMR).

I downloaded Songbird last night and like it very much. It passed the test of putting all of my 300gb of music into its library. I plan on using Songbird for the next couple of weeks and then come back and give a more detailed post at that time. In the mean time, check out what others are saying about Songbird.

Social Community for skateboarders and fans

Icelounge.com LogoTwice a year, the Skatepark Of Tampa organizes two of the best skateboard contest in the world. These contests are nothing like the Xgames, and are advertiser supported by the skateboard industry only. Anyway, before I get to far off course. I was looking at some skateboard sites that were covering the Tampa Am contest and I came a across an interesting write-up about icelounge.com. Turns out, icelounge.com, which is a Social Community for skateboarders and fans, was launching a new feature at the Tampa Am contest. They launched a cool service that would give any of their members the ability post pictures and videos directly from the event using their cellphones. Very cool. I signed up for an icelounge account today to check-out the community and the features. It is what a niche community should be like. One of the really cool things about icelounge is that it puts skateboard fans in direct contact with pro skateboarders and industry insiders. Here’s a rundown of their services:

create a profile
create your very own profile on icelounge. you can tell everyone about yourself, customize colors, upload pictures of yourself, everything to make that page represent the true you!

invite your friends and meet new people
once you have tricked out your lounge, invite your friends to join and build your crew. meet up with new people on icelounge with the same interests as you and join each other’s crews. get to know what they are all about by reading their profile, checking out their pictures and videos, and posting comments on their page.

pictures and videos
let the world know what you’re all about by posting pictures and videos of your session, your girl or guy, your pet, and all the crazy stuff you’re into. you can spend hours on icelounge checking out other members’ pictures and videos! you can vote and comment on them too!

mobile uploads
send pictures and videos directly to your profile from your mobile phone! now you can get those pictures and videos off your phone and share them with all your friends, instantly!

join a group
join a group about stuff you’re into, and if you don’t see a group with your interest, start one of your own and get others to join!

pros
check out the pro page and meet pros, amateurs, phographers, filmers and industry heads that can give you tips on how to get hooked up.

The easy way to take your French placement test

This post doesn’t really fit with most of my posts here at ATC. But, I found this craigslist posting from a couple of days ago, very funny. It just goes to show, the many uses of craigslist. Just so you know, the craigslist “community” had this post taken down. I’m not sure why though. Does it violate something in the users agreement? Either, here’s a reposting and below that is screen captures. Leave me comments in regards to whether you think this was wrongly removed from craigslist or if you think the “community” was correct in removing it.

I am about to take the French placement test at a local university and can probably place out of two to three semesters but if your fluent in your twenties and look similar to me then I will pay you 500 dollars to take it for me. Please don’t respond to this with a chastising comment about the moral implications of this I am well aware this is not right and the possible consequences that could follow…however, if you are not some moral relativist and want to make 500 dollars for two hours of your time … we look similar and you speak French then were in business!

* Job location is Austin
* Compensation: 500 dollars

Joshua Schachter of Del.icio.us in The Guardian

The Guardian has a good story of Joshua Schachter, Del.icio.us and how it all got started.

It was simple compared to the complex website filing systems that companies such as Yahoo spend millions on, but it worked. Delicious was special from the start. “It’s something I focused on enough to grow up. None of the other projects took over my life.” As to why Delicious and not one of its many predecessors, Schachter says, “it was just so sticky. It was so useful and so compelling”. It was the right time in his own personal life, and the right product.
