Google now offers Free Analytics

google_ana.gifThe big news around the web today is Google and their new offering; Analytics. I’ve been waiting to get in on the MeasureMap Beta testing program, but no invite yet. I’ll just have to see what Google has to offer instead. Google Analytics is totally Free and looks to offer everything that the pay services do. A few years back, I was shopping for Analytics software for my ecommerce company and would have been spending $2-3k per month for WebSideStory’s Hitbox or Webtrends. Now I’ll be able to get pretty much the same stats for free, thanks to Google. I wonder how the pay services are going to compete?

FYI-as of this writing I have not been able to get a Google Analytics account because the site says it Currently Undergoing Maintenance.
