Skateornot. A Myspace for skateboarders.

skateornot.gifI just came across this site today. Apparently they’ve been around for more than a year now. Why haven’t I heard about Skateornot before? Skateornot as all of the functionality that Mysapce has but with a twist. With Skateornot you can meet other skateboarders in your town or check out videos or rate pictures of users. It’s a pretty cool community site. I’m sure soon enough we’ll see more niche social networking sites. If you’re into skateboarding then check out skateornot.com.

New Tommy Guerrero Adidas shoe.

I’ve been a big fan of Tommy G since, well, since I fist saw him in a skateboard magazine in 1984. He was one the first street skaters. Anyway, I’m not sure of the details of his Adidas shoe but I would assume that it’s a limited edition. They look cool and I would love a pair of size 10′s. If anyone knows where I can get my hands on some, let me know?

Check out Tommy’s bio and a cool video at www.kqed.org

Free web hosting from ZoomShare

zoomshare_console_logo.gifI remember when I first started doing websites back in 1996 I paid something like $30 per month to host my website. Now I only pay $10 per month at Livingdot, and that includes all the Bells and Whistles. I know that I could even get hosting for less that what I’m paying now but I like who I’m with. I came across ZoomShare today which is a FREE web hosting company. What’s the catch you ask? This is what zoomshare has to say:

“We make money from premium upgrade services that you might like to add to your site when you need them (such as shopping carts and storage upgrades) as well as from sponsors in your web site control panel. Zoomshare is totally free. We don’t ask for billing information and we don’t force you to buy anything, ever.”

So, if you ever wanted your own website. This is your opportunity get one and pay nothing for it. Zoomshare.com

Mad scientist or jobless.

I came across this website called Cockeyed.com. It has a feature on there about a guy who makes things and documents it. Check out some of the costumes and other stuff he’s made. It’s pretty cool. He apparently has a lot of time on his hands.

Check it out at Cockeyed.com

Keep up with events in your area with Zvents.com

zvents.gif
If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area you can be one of the first to use Zvents.com. Zvents is a site to keep you up-to-date on the happenings in your area, San Francisco Bay Area that is. I’m sure once they test the grounds in SF they will expand to other markets. I would love to see this service here in Austin.

Here’s what they have to say:

“Our goal is to be the best local event search on the Web, and to enable brand-new kinds of extended conversations about local events and things to do.”

Take a look: Zvents.com

Mitch Hedberg video gallery.

A web site called smithappens.com has put together a online video collection of Mitch Hedberg appearances. Mitch Hedberg unfortunately passed away on March 30th, of this year. I never had the opportunity to see his live stand-up. But, I have one of his performances on my Ipod that I play when I need a good laugh.

Ning- Build your own social Network

Ning just launched into Beta mode a couple of days ago. I’m very intrigued on how this is going to work. Supposedly you will be able to sign up for a account and build social networking websites using their tools. I signed up for a account but have not been given my Beta Developer Account yet (hopefully soon).

Here’s how they explain what Ning is:

Ning is a free online service (or, as we like to call it, a Playground) for people to build and run social applications. Social “apps” are web applications that enable anyone to match, transact, and communicate with other people.
